Unit 4, Research, Citation, & Plagiarism

 "Does the Internet blur the lines of legally owned? Consider sites like YouTube and Wikipedia."

I definitely think the Internet puts a distinct smudge across the lines of copyrights and the concept of "legally owned". . . A site like YouTube holds a wealth of homemade music videos that offer no credit to the original recording artist or the person who wrote the song, bootleg copies of movies and concerts. The YouTube administration will remove these videos for copyright infringement eventually but with literally millions of videos, this takes time and videos are often available for months before being discovered and removed. Another site is MySpace. Musicians can post music they've recorded without providing any copyright release for music that is not their own.
